Sew South

Sew South was an amazing, unbelievably inspiring retreat. It was the best weekend I've had in a very long time. I was scared, because I'm a very shy person. It was a room full of 50 people who I've never spoken to or met other than a few instagram comments. It was way out of my comfort zone, but in the end wasn't even nearly as scary as I was making it out to be. I loved every minute. Jennifer Mathis from Ellison Lane hosted it, and she is honestly the sweetest person I've ever met!

There was so much inspiration everywhere I looked! There were completed projects that people brought along with them to travel handmade, and so many that others were working on. It was so fun to see all of the things I see on instagram and on blogs in person! Everyone was so helpful with any questions or help that anyone needed! It was so great to be in a room with people who share the crazy obsession with sewing and fabrics that I do!

Thats my Cargo Duffle sitting on my bed! :)

Then there were the classes. Embroidery with Alison Glass was a hit with everyone and I don't think anyone put it down all weekend! I finished mine and I am so in love with the finished project! I was a little star struck to meet her because Clover Sunshine is my absolute favorite line! She was the guest speaker as well and I loved hearing her story! Super inspiring! We had a scrap bucket class with Heather Valentine from the Sewing Loft and a blogging class with Christen Barber from Love By Hand! I have every intention of making several more buckets for the kids room for toys and books and stuff! We also had a boxy pouch class with Kelly Bowser from Kelby Sews and an improv quiting class with Kati from From the Blue Chair! It was all amazing.

There were lots and lots of door prizes and giveaways... which unfortunately I didn't win any of. But it was so fun watching every person get so excited over winning!

Sew South Part Two, about my Secret Sister Swap gifts will be posted later this week! It was so fun watching everyone receive their gifts from each other! There were tears shed and so much love! :)

Everyone who came sent a star in to Val at Between Quilts before Sew South to make a surprise quilt for Jennifer! I'm not a mushy person but I definitely had a few tears leak out when she received it!

I could just keep gushing and gushing over every minute. I have anxiety already over not getting a ticket next year! Haha. I'll be refreshing my screen with the rest of the quilty world as soon as tickets go on sale for next time! It was the greatest experience/moms getaway ever!

I took all of these pictures for Jennifer, so if you see your photo here and don't want it posted please let me know and I'll take it off! :)
